Philip from P Joseph was the commissioned Architects selected to transform a five-story town house into a London based fashion house. As well as the expansive, dynamic interior space, 5 Carlos Place also boasts a beautiful courtyard garden. In tandem with P Joseph’s vision of the space having a ‘collector’s house’ feel, landscape designers Urquhart & Hunt implemented their creative vision to reflect the feeling of a Victorian plant collector’s garden, creating an outdoor sanctuary, chosen for their naturalistic planting style they wanted the space to act as a backdrop to the rest of the house, with the beauty of the plants interacting with the architecture
The garden would essentially be an installation, a theatrical backdrop for small fashion shows and high fashion viewings. The sympathetic approach to the historical value and nature of the building developed a design around a Victorian plant-collectors glasshouse, which held an elegant fusion between the Victorian days set in a contemporary fashion house setting. With the use of dramatic evergreen planting a stylish and courtly garden was created in central London. Here one can feel enveloped in a sub-tropical Oasis.
